In this “back to basics” class, we will go over in detail the process of proper bubble set-up. We will then go over the step-by-step procedures for the basic blown shapes (cylinder, bowl, vase). Then we will practice, practice, practice! In the first 3 days of this class we will work only in clear and will be doing timed drills for each of the 3 shapes, emphasizing repetition of skills and steps until you have them down cold! In the last 2 days of the class we will break out the color and practice various application techniques as well as bits, feet, etc. tailored to the students’ individual interest. Be prepared to be frustrated in the beginning, but leave with your technical skills and understanding of how hot glass moves drastically improved.
