A Weekend of Workshops with Deb Crowley:

CROSSOVER FLAMEWORKING WITH FUSED GLASS (ONE-DAY)
Debra Crowley $150 + $20 material fee (non-refundable)
June 17, Friday (10am-5pm)
Have you tried to make realistic scenes in fusing and are just frustrated with all that cutting and grinding of the flat glass? Are you a torch worker looking for another direction? This is the class for you! Students will learn how to sculpt flowers, leaves, stems and tendrils out of "soft" glass. Components will be made on a torch out of vibrant Bullseye Glass rod colors and fused into a raised design on a flat panel of glass. We start with flower petals and buds, then simple leaves, stems and tendrils, and then make butterflies and dragonflies. Learn to blend shade and make realistic components that make fusing come alive!
Beginner to intermediate level. Students must have taken some or all of the Beginner Flameworking series.

SOFT GLASS SCULPTURE – ALSO A BEAD CLASS (ONE-DAY)

In this sculpture class we will learn how to sculpt animals out of "soft" glass. Have you tried to sculpt in soft glass and had it crack and break? Then this is the class for you! In this class we take sculpting a little further with the vibrant colors and fast melt of soda lime glass. Starting with a beautiful morning glory flower pendant with simple leaf cane and then a little hummingbird bead. We will make a fantasy fun fish wearable bead. Students will draw to win Deb’s demo beads, learn heat base basics for sculpting!
Beginner to intermediate level. Students must have taken some or all of the Beginner Flameworking series.

BLOWN BORO SHELLS (ONE-DAY)
Debra Crowley $150 + $20 material fee (non-refundable)
June 19, Sunday (10am- 5pm)
In this intermediate class students will be making shell pendants and display shells from borosilicate glass tubing. Students will learn to layer color for designs inside and outside of the shells as well as developing those colors in the flame and kiln. Tubing sizes, creating "handles" instead of pulling points and cold, warm and hot seals for punties will be discussed. Students will build on techniques and possibilities with each new shell that Deb demonstrates. 3-4 shells will be created, some with pendant loops. She will give great tips on making nice loops with no scum (from grinding it open or reaming it with tungsten) that are actually quicker, clean and sturdy. Four easy steps to loop heaven! So get ready for a fun day with tubing and color, making some beautiful focal shells!
