Featured Beadmaking Classes

Jenny Newtson $150 + $25 material fee

February 23-24 Sat-Sun 10am-5pm
Want to learn to get the most out of the exciting new reactive soft-glass colors? This 2-day class will cover the basics of reducing and striking the changable 104-COE glass colors from Paul Trautman. Paul and Jenny will answer your questions about working colors that change with the torch. Glass will be provided and students will be able to purchase “odds” of these new colors at discounted prices.

Beginner to Intermediate:
torch experience required.

Caitlin Hyde $350 + $25 material fee

March 8-9 Sat-Sun 10am-5pm
FOCUS ON HEAT MANAGEMENT
FOR PRECISION SURFACE PATTERN WORK

This intensive workshop will guide intermediate students in developing and fine tuning skills in bead shaping and precision surface decoration.
Emphasis will be on understanding the subtle use of heat to control form and pattern.

Featured Fusing Classes
Mary Hornig $150 + $25 material fee

Sat & Sun
10am-5pm
1. February 16-17 2. May 17-18

ShapeCasters is a new casting system. Kiln artists can break away from sheet and use scrap, homemade or commercial
frits, pre-made elements and even recycled glass. ShapeCasters’ simple, reusable shapes are infinitely reconfigurable; allowing quick and easy creation of complex edges, shapes, and voids. Work a little thick or way deep,
make a repeatable product or one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Topics include glass compatibility, kiln schedules, frit making
techniques and how to control thickness.

Mary Hornig $200 + 50 material fee

March 8 - 9 Sat- Sun 10am- 5pm
Kiln Casting is easy and lots of fun! Join us in an exploration of two techniques: Creation of a cast glass “positive” and its “negative space” companion cast into a glass block. (Both techniques use the same clay positive.) New techniques will be introduced that simplify and augment both traditional plaster investment casting and “box” casting. No prior experience with casting is required. Students should have a basic understanding of glass fusing.
Featured Flameworking Classes

Sabina Boehm $350

March 29-30 10am-5pm

In this two-day class students will explore 3 different techniques of marble making. The compression technique, used for making flowers and butterflies; the imbedding and implosion technique used for making honeycombs and air traps;
and technique for outside designs like pinwheels and fish scales. Advanced-intermediate flame workers will make the
most progress in this class, but it’s open to anyone with basic flameworking knowledge. Students will be encouraged to work at their own levels. This class will focus on a fundamental understanding of core heat, “Fuming” of metals and color use. Students should be comfortable working with rods.

All Levels

Randall Grubb $350 + $25 material fee

April 12-13
Sat & Sun 10am-5pm

In this two-day class we will cover the basics of lampwork encasement. Randy will demonstrate the making of a lampworked paperweight from start to finish. This is an intermediate-advanced class for experienced glass workers. We will also cover the pulling of soft glass cane, sculpting of glass flowers, and encasing lampwork into a crystal paperweight. Work will focus around the Carlisle CC burner.

Intermediate-Advanced Level
Featured Hot Shop Classes

Charlie Correll $600 + 50 material fee

February 18-22 Mon-Fri 10am-5pm
In this five-day course we will cover basic training in Venetian thinware blowing, starting with cups, and then goblets, including optic molds, twists, garage work and cane. The Italian approach of “treating the bubble as a whole” will be emonstrated and stressed. Demonstrations will include crystal goblets, cane pulling for cane
pickups and cane goblets. Bring your cup jacks if you’ve got ‘em. Bring color for cane. Skills learned in this class will transfer to every piece you make!

Intermediate to Advanced Level

Ed Schmid $550
+ 50 material fee

March 26-30
Fri - Mon 10am-5pm
Blowing it in the Hot Shop,
Saving it in the Cold Shop

We will address glass designs and techniques to improve your hot shop skills. We realize not every piece you make in the hot shop comes out “right”, so we’ll head into the cold shop and learn how some techniques can fix or improve the finished product. We will balance the class out between sessions in the hot shop and cold shop, giving you plenty of hands-on experience and fun and fact-filled demos.
