Ray Olson

Ray Olson has made a living with glass art for twenty five years and loves to share his experience with those others that love glass. Using beautifully colored glass rods from Murano, Italy, Ray is best known for his intricate glass sculptures of fantasy figures. Born in Massachusetts, Olson currently resides in Kissimmee, Florida. He often travels the country performing demonstrations and teaching the art of lamp working. Olson was first exposed to the medium of glass more than 20 years ago, when he was offered a job working at a medical supply laboratory. He began to experiment with the torches and glass rods used for the medical instruments and soon found himself letting his imagination loose and creating artistic glass sculptures. He soon began to work at shopping malls and later secured a job at Disney World sculpting limited edition glass Mickey's for The Arribas Brothers Company. Today, Olson and his wife, Beth, both tour the country and create glass sculptures, ranging from collectible goblets, vases and dragons to jewelry, perfume bottles, paperweights and glass beads.
