Karl Ittg is a sixth generation glass artist from Germany. By age 15 he was given instruction in glass standards and began working in a family company. By 1970, he was manufacturing glass and ceramic filters; and specialized in the use of silk screening processes with glass. In 1975, he moved into lampworking and in 1979 he took over administration of Wertheim Glasshaus. The following year he began offhand blowing and sculpture in Heilbronn. By 1985 he has taken over as the instructor at Wertheim Glashaus, where in 1991 he built a glass foundry and studio. He then established a private glass school, which has continued to provide regular seminars, workshops, and classes in various aspects of hot glass art production. Karl continues to teach and serve as a consultant in Europe, Canada, the United States, and Japan.
