Henry has his Masters degrees in Botany and Management. As a
botanist, his work was multi-discipline and focused on the marine environment. He first became interested in
glass during this period and spent time with the scientific lampworkers who built different apparatus for his
toxin studies in riparian communities. With a background in physical, general and organic chemistry, as well
as two years of biochemistry, little did Henry expect that his interest in glass blowing and training in
chemistry would collide 30 years later. After abandoning his corporate career in 1995 to move to Oregon and
follow his passion for glass, he became involved in the glass-tempering field. His interest in borosilicate
and color came together in 1996 when Henry started exploring the medium. Henry helped found Glass Alchemy,
Ltd., in December of 1999. Henry is the Director of Research and Education for Glass Alchemy, Ltd., the company responsible for expanding the color palette during the last four years with the introduction of bright opal colors, adventurine colors and the "easy strike" silver colors. Henry has been a flameworker since 1996 and wants every lampworker to have the highest quality materials and information possible. He has
been a trainer and instructor for the last 20 years in the industrial, corporate and educational fields.
