Avery Anderson

Avery has been devoted to glass since 1984. She has studied under many glass educators and has attended Worcester Center for Crafts, Camp Colton, and the Studio at Corning, in addition to taking private drawing and design courses. Avery�s work is primarily kiln formed, with an emphasis on fusing. She specializes in surface treatments. Her work depicts animals and investigates the spiritual connection between man and animal down through the ages. Indigenous cultures are researched thoroughly for each piece. Her work is in collections across the U.S. and Canada and is available in selected galleries. In 1999, she was nominated for a NICHE award in fused glass. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including the books "Contemporary Warm Glass", "Words and Images", and "Contemporary Glass: Color, Light and Form", as well as publications such as "Glass Craftsman", "Cowboys and Indians", "Phoenix Magazine", "New Mexico Magazine", "NICHE Magazine" and "The Crafts Report". Avery was a founding member of the International Guild of Glass Artists, Inc., and served on the board as Vice Chair from 1994 to 2001. Avery has taught at the Worchester Center for Crafts, Horizons Craft School, Red Deer College in Alberta, and a variety of private studios.
